How we reach each region

The routes north

Scotland is a long day's drive from London, and the best route depends on where you are heading. Planning the corridor in advance is part of how we keep a move of this distance on schedule.

Edinburgh and East Lothian

We follow the A1 up the east coast for Edinburgh, North Berwick and Gullane, a route that runs close to 400 miles door to door.

Perthshire and Royal Deeside

For Perth, Crieff, Pitlochry and on to Ballater and Banchory we take the M6 and A9, the main spine into the Highlands.

Aberdeen and the north east

Aberdeen, Stonehaven and Banchory sit at the far end of the east-coast run, around 540 miles and a full day on the road.

Stirling and the central belt

Stirling, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan are reached via the M6, M74 and M80, the fastest corridor into central Scotland.

Glasgow's western suburbs

Bearsden, Milngavie, Newton Mearns and Giffnock come off the M74 and M8, the western approach into greater Glasgow.

The Borders and beyond

Melrose, Peebles and the Scottish Borders sit along the A7 and A68, the first of Scotland's regions you reach heading north.
